A school district responsible for multiple educational facilities was experiencing recurring roof leaks, interior water damage, and concerns about aging building exteriors.

 

Traditional inspections required extensive roof access equipment, exposed personnel to fall hazards, and were expensive to perform across numerous buildings.

• Whether hidden moisture was present beneath roofing systems

FAA Authorized Drone Roof Inspection and Thermal Imaging Survey

Using commercial inspection drones equipped with high-resolution optical cameras and thermal imaging sensors, our team performed a comprehensive inspection of district facilities.

 

The inspection documented:

• Roof membrane failures

• Open flashing seams

• Ponding water

• Wet insulation beneath roofing membranes

• Blocked drainage systems

• Damaged parapet flashing

• Sealant failures

• Areas of active moisture intrusion

Thermal imaging revealed moisture trapped beneath several roof systems that was not visible during on-the-roof inspections.

Every finding was GPS documented and photographed, allowing maintenance staff to locate and repair deficiencies quickly.

 

Drone Roof Inspection Findings

Inspection results showed:

 

• Multiple roof leaks caused by localized membrane failures—not complete roof failure.

• Significant moisture intrusion around rooftop penetrations.

• Drainage issues causing chronic ponding water.

• Failed flashing details allowing water into wall assemblies.

• Several roof areas originally considered candidates for replacement that only required targeted repairs.

• Exterior wall defects that could be repaired before structural deterioration occurred.
